One Happy Renter 02/09/2012
Here's a recent email from a happy renter. Of course, you don't have to take her word for it, come to Green Valley and find out for yourself! "Thanks very much for allowing us to rent your beautiful cottage. We had a wonderful time doing practically nothing. We actually hiked all the trails (even the lower part of Smith Run Trail - I had to hike the edge of the hill above Bear Creek on my rear end as I'm afraid of heights - but, I made it!). We ate well, talked a lot, read, sat in the hot tub (many times - love the size - so easy!) and generally found ourselves relaxing the whole time. We also took a peek into the other two cottages, as we knew no one was staying - they are just as lovely as Sophronia! God willing, we'll be back to visit Green Valley in the near future. Again, thank you." Add Comment Caution: Deer Crossing Here 11/02/2011
"This evening, after a day of trimming brush in our valley, I sat on Excelsior Cottage's deck for a rest. Ten deer crossed the fording on Bear Creek and I was lucky enough to get a picture of a few of them. The perfect reward for a hard day's work" Oct. 27, 2011 An Anniversary at Sophronia... 10/27/2011
From the guestbook of Sophronia Cottage... "Our 10th anniversary was Oct. 6th. we came here looking for a quiet, relaxing, secluded weekend without kids and we got it. On Saturday the deer came down the hill behind us and one little fawn walked right over to where we sat. Then we watched them run to the open ground and play. We so don't want to leave. Going back to reality will not be easy. Thanks for sharing your home and nature with us." Beth and Scott Oct. 7th, 2011 Fall at Excelsior 10/24/2011
Today, after doing some fall cleaning in the flower gardens at Excelsior Cottage, we took a nice, long hike into the hills. The foliage is at its peak---beautiful. Take a Hike 10/19/2011
The fall colors are peaking this week, which makes it a great time to work on our newest trail-Stoner Run Trail. We hope to have the sings up and trail marked and ready for hikers next week. Fall Foliage 10/12/2011
![]() Taken from Sophie's yard. The bridge over Bear Creek is in the background The colors of Fall are beginning to creep into the valley and the old meadow by Excelsior Cottage is filled with waist high Goldenrod Flowers. Bill's Trail takes you all around the old meadow and through the waving Goldenrod. I think the beautiful and bright Fall colors help ease the pain of a Summer gone by........... The Dog Days of Summer 08/26/2011
![]() Doe and Fawns feed outside of Sophronia Cottage - August 2011 Some place cool and green and shady ? Green Valley in August ! The "Dog Days of Summer" have settled into the valley bringing warm sunny days and cool starry nights. The deer are either going into the creek or coming out it seems. Yesterday I watched a Doe & fawn stroll up stream and around the bend, nibbling on leaves as they went. Nice way to eat lunch on a hot Summer day ! Fishing has been good this summer and a guest in Lory Cottage has taken a 22 in. Bass to have mounted. Congratulations ! The nights are filled with one of my favorite sounds, Katydids ! When I was a boy, I spent many Summer nights in a sleeping bag by a campfire near the lake at Green Valley. The Katydids would sing me to sleep and the call of the Crows would wake me in the morning. Wow, that's been 40 couple years ago ! Nice to know the campfires are still burning and the Katydids are still singing folks to sleep.....Have a happy dream............. | ArchivesNovember 2011 CategoriesAll |
