From Francena's Guestbook
It is almost impossible to explain how amazing it is here. It has been so nice to get away form everyday life and come to a place so peaceful and tranquil.
We spent some time doing things we don't get to do at home, hike, fish, bike, paddle boat, etc., but the best times were the quiet moments on the porch listening to the creek and birds.
We did get to see some beautiful things. A nest full of goose eggs.
Some deer in a clearing or two, and even deer by the creek right near the cottage.
We were so pleasantly surprised by all the little things you provided that made our stay even better, I.e. bird feeder and seeds.
This is our first time staying at G.V. and it won't be our last.
We snapped this shot last week while cleaning Exclesior. This is your view from the front deck! You know you're totally "away from it all" when the deer get this close!
A Majestic Surprise
Opening emails from Green Valley renters can be the best part of the day when you send us pictures like this one. Thanks, Mark, for this incredible shot! Hope everyone else enjoys seeing this fellow as much as I did.
Caution: Deer Crossing Here
"This evening, after a day of trimming brush in our valley, I sat on Excelsior Cottage's deck for a rest.
Ten deer crossed the fording on Bear Creek and I was lucky enough to get a picture of a few of them.
The perfect reward for a hard day's work"

An Anniversary at Sophronia...
From the guestbook of Sophronia Cottage...
"Our 10th anniversary was Oct. 6th. we came here looking for a quiet, relaxing, secluded weekend without kids and we got it.
On Saturday the deer came down the hill behind us and one little fawn walked right over to where we sat. Then we watched them run to the open ground and play.
We so don't want to leave. Going back to reality will not be easy. Thanks for sharing your home and nature with us."

The Dog Days of Summer
Doe and Fawns feed outside of Sophronia Cottage - August 2011
Some place cool and green and shady ? Green Valley in August ! The "Dog Days of Summer" have settled into the valley bringing warm sunny days and cool starry nights. The deer are either going into the creek or coming out it seems. Yesterday I watched a Doe & fawn stroll up stream and around the bend, nibbling on leaves as they went. Nice way to eat lunch on a hot Summer day ! Fishing has been good this summer and a guest in Lory Cottage has taken a 22 in. Bass to have mounted. Congratulations ! The nights are filled with one of my favorite sounds, Katydids ! When I was a boy, I spent many Summer nights in a sleeping bag by a campfire near the lake at Green Valley. The Katydids would sing me to sleep and the call of the Crows would wake me in the morning. Wow, that's been 40 couple years ago ! Nice to know the campfires are still burning and the Katydids are still singing folks to sleep.....Have a happy dream.............
